WHAT CXOs READ

Shobit Arya,Wisdom Tree

Shobit Arya, Publisher, Wisdom TreeWhat are you reading at the moment? What did you recently finish reading? What have you learnt from it?
I recently finished reading Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth. What I learnt from it is that even a fabulous book needs an Oprah Winfrey before it really burns the charts! On a more serious note, it reminded me to align my efforts and energy with the universal energy.

The one book all leaders must read...
The Bhagavad Gita for sure. It is timeless and could really inspire one to become a leader with nerves of steel and a heart of gold.

One book everyone in your sector should pick up...
Ironic as it may sound, I just hope everyone in Indian publishing starts reading, especially people in sales and distribution.

What kind of books would you normally buy while travelling?
I usually don't buy books while travelling as I make sure I am carrying enough ammunition. I just carry with me whatever book I would be reading during that time.

Have you written any books? If not, do you plan to write in future?
Not yet but yes I do.

The books you grew up with? What did you like most about it?
Lots of them actually, sometimes I feel I only grew up with books — Hardy Boys, Famous Five, Rajan Ikbal, Chandamama Asterix, Chacha Chaudhary, Tinkle, Champak and Nandan, you name them and I have read them.

Your book shelf consists of....
All kinds of books but a majority of them are spiritual. Books such as Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda, Mystics Musings by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho occupy maximum space in my shelf.

A New EarthWhere do you shop for books?
Indiatimes is the favourite online space and I like to go to Midland and Om Book Shop when it comes to brick & mortar stores.

Has your reading habit changed in the past four or five years? If so, how....
It definitely has. Now I read more manuscripts than books. So, I actually get paid to read.

One book you cherish that you received as a gift... and who gave it to you.
Nobody gifts me books, I guess they are trying to be nice although I can do with as many as they can gift.
