What are you reading at the moment? What did you recently finish reading? What have you learnt from it?
Currently, I am reading The Millionaire Mind by Thomas J. Stanley, a book that my son gave me on his last trip home. It seems as though I
am going to discover all the mistakes I have made over the last 28 years!
The one book all leaders must read...
The Diamond Cutter by Geshe Michael Roach is my recommendation not just because of the title but because it is the Buddha of life and business.
One book everyone in your sector should pick up...
I think it will be the coffee table book we will soon publish. It will tell people what goes on inside C. Krishniah Chetty & Sons (CKC)
What kind of books would you normally buy while travelling?
The books I pick up while travelling have changed with time. I used to read many management books earlier but not any more. I now read a number of books on travel and destinations such as the Lonely Planet’s guidebooks and 1000 Places To Visit Before You Die. I also read a lot of books on golf, and for me, comics never go out of style.
Have you written any books? If not, do you plan to write in future?
Yes, I have and recently e-mailed a friend of mine, who is a writer, to be ready for some extended discussions. Writing this book has been a tough
ride as well as a learning experience for me.
The books you grew up with? What did you like most about it?
Books by Agatha Christie and Erle Stanley Gardner's Perry Mason Series were my favourites during school and college time.
Your book shelf consists of...
Every conceivable industry magazine and book for sure; about 1,500 titles collected in 28 years . The entire series of National Geographic from the time the membership was gifted to me around 1975, Life, Harvard Business Review, and several wordsmiths kinds of books. Besides these, there are many books on management, design, coins, a gun digest along with Photo School by Michael Freeman and Richard Shaw Brown's books on gems and astrology.
Where do you shop for books?
I shop for books almost anywhere. From pavements to swanky book stores around the world. I even imported 55 design books on jewellery from a bookstore once.
Have your reading habits changed in the past four or five years? If so, how....
From reading word by word, I have now become a fast reader. Also, I no longer read fiction.
One book you cherish that you received as a gift... and who gave it to you.
The Millionaire Mind gifted to me by my older son.
