WHAT CXOs READ

M.C. Appaiah, Duncans Tea

M.C. Appaiah , COO, Duncans TeaWhat are you reading at the moment? What did you recently finish reading? What have you learnt from it?
Harvard Business Review on Brand Management: Ideas With Impact.

I recently finished reading Football Manager: A History by Neil Carter. The latter examines the influence of Britain's traditionally pragmatic and hierarchical business management culture on British football, and in doing so provides a new and broader perspective on a unique management role and a unique way of life. For those interested in the history of football and for those interested in management more generally, this book is a valuable new resource.

A book all leaders must read...
Straight From The Gut by Jack Welch

A book everyone in your sector should pick up...
Pour your Heart into it: How Starbucks Built a Company One Cup at a Time by Howard Schultz

What kind of books would you normally buy while travelling?
Biographies of self-made businessmen and turnaround specialists who create value for a company.

Have you written any books? If not, do you plan to write in future?
No I haven't written any. I do wish to write on the life of a bare-footed manager who began life selling products in a rural fair and rises to head a FMCG Company.

The books you grew up with? What did you like most about it?
Hardy Boys; the pace and adventure and the fun of being a teenage enigma! P.G. Wodehouse; easily the pick in humour and choice of words.

Pour Your Heart Into ItYour book shelf consists of....
Peter Drucker, Sumantra Ghoshal, Eknath Easwaran, Sam Walton

Where do you shop for books?
Crossword and airport book stores.

Has your reading habits changed in the past four or five years? If so, how....
Yes, more geared towards success stories of new economy companies and general management rather than functional topics.

One book you cherish that you received as a gift...
O Jerusalem by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre
